HSHI Seeks to Go Smoke-free

Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries (HSHI) initiated a Tobacco Cessation Campaign on June 2, 2015, which will be carried out in cooperation with Yeongam Public Health Center. The campaign will make a smoke-free workplace and promote safety and health of employees.

To encourage smokers at HSHI to quit smoking, HSHI will introduce an anti-smoking fund, offer tobacco cessation counseling, and provide nicotine replacement therapies such as patches or gum, as well as follow-up counseling and treatments.

The anti-smoking fund, designed to give monetary rewards to successful quitters, has earmarked \100,000 per head, out of which \30,000 is funded by each employee and \70,000 jointly financed by the company and the public health center. A total of 150 employees signed to participate in the campaign, and the money raised will be distributed to those who successfully quit smoking.

For example, if only one person manages to quit at the end of the campaign, then he or she alone can receive \15 million as a prize, which is a whopping 500 times return on his or her initial investments. Even if all of the 150 participants succeed, they can get a handsome return of over three times their stake. The anti-smoking fund will run for six months from June to November this year.
