On February 5th, HD Hyundai Samho delivered the world’s first LPG carrier equipped with Hybrid Vertical Support (HVS) technology.

Developed by HD Hyundai, HVS is a smart system that keeps gas tanks from floating if the ship floods. Traditionally, heavy steel structures were placed on top of tanks to hold them down. However, these were heavy and lowered fuel efficiency.

The new HVS technology replaces heavy steel with lightweight, strong carbon fiber that anchors the tanks from the bottom. This makes the ship

lighter and more fuel-efficient, while also creating more space and reducing maintenance costs.

HD Hyundai Samho plans to continue leading the market by developing more eco-friendly and efficient ship technologies.
