8,200 TEU Containership Launched
For the first time, Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries Co., Ltd (HSHI) launched an 8,200 TEU containership on September 9 at Dock No. 1.
The ship, alongside the quay No. 2 under outfitting construction, measures 335m in length, 42.8m in width and 24.6m in depth with a service speed of 25.25knots.
Starting with the steel cutting in March, the keel laying was carried out in June and the ship will be delivered to Nordcapital of Germany in November.
Since Nordcapital placed an order for eighteen containership, consisting of two 4,300 TEU containership, seven 5,000 TEU containerships and nine 8,200 TEU containerships to HSHI, HSHI delivered nine containerships, while nine 8,200 TEU containerships remains in its backlog.
At present, as for gigantic containership orders over 8,000 TEU, HSHI has a backlog of seventeen containerships so that HSHI expects to win an advantage in newshipbuiding market for gigantic containerships.
