For the first time, Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries Co., Ltd (HSHI) launched a 9,200 TEU containership ordered by CMA CGM S.A. of France on March 9.
The ship, alongside the quay No. 1 under post-outfitting construction, measures 349m in length, 42.8m in width and 27.3m in depth with a service speed of 25knots.
The original contractual cargo capacity of the ship was 8,200 TEU, afterwards, complying with the owner’s request, the ship was expanded to 9,200 TEU.
After post-outfitting work is finished, the sea trial of the ship will be carried out in April and the ship will be delivered to the owner in May.
Meanwhile, as for newshipbuilding of gigantic containership over 8,000 TEU, HSHI has delivered four ships so far with a backlog of thirteen containerships ordered by Nordcapital, CMA CGM, Hyundai Merchant Marine and P_O NEDLLOYD so that HSHI expects to win an advantage in newshipbuiding market for gigantic containerships.
